Defibrillator warranties: durations and conditions by manufacturer

Purchasing an automated external defibrillator (AED) is a major investment in the safety of your business, employees, and visitors.

At Cardio Choc, we offer defibrillators from manufacturers certified by Health Canada, including ZOLL, Philips, Stryker/LIFEPAK, and HeartSine.

Each device comes with a manufacturer's warranty, the duration of which varies by model. Here are the main warranties to help you make an informed choice.

How long is the warranty on your defibrillator?

Manufacturer Defibrillator model Manufacturer's warranty
ZOLL AED Plus 5 years + 2 years with registration
ZOLL AED 3 6 years + 2 years with registration
ZOLL / Cardiac Science Powerheart G5 6 years + 2 years with registration
Philips HeartStart OnSite HS1 8 years
Philips HeartStart FRx 8 years
Stryker LIFEPAK CR2 8 years
HeartSine samaritan PAD 350P 8 years
HeartSine samaritan PAD 360P 8 years
HeartSine samaritan PAD 500P 8 years

The stated durations apply to new devices and are subject to the manufacturer's conditions. Accessories, batteries, electrodes, and recertified devices may be covered by different conditions.

How does a defibrillator warranty work?

The manufacturer's warranty generally covers manufacturing and material defects under normal conditions of use.

However, it may include exclusions, particularly in cases of misuse, accidental damage, unauthorized modifications, or inadequate maintenance.

The warranty period does not necessarily correspond to the total lifespan of the defibrillator. A device may remain functional after its warranty expires, provided that the maintenance requirements and manufacturer's recommendations are followed.

Do I need to register my defibrillator to benefit from the warranty?

Some manufacturers, such as ZOLL, offer a free warranty extension when the device is registered.

For example:

  • ZOLL AED Plus: 5-year warranty, extended to 7 years with registration.

  • ZOLL AED 3: 6-year warranty, extended to 8 years with registration.

  • Cardiac Science Powerheart G5: 6-year warranty, extended to 8 years with registration.

We recommend that you keep your proof of purchase, your device's serial number, and its documentation.

Are batteries and electrodes covered?

Batteries and electrodes have their own warranty conditions and expiration dates.

These accessories must be replaced according to the manufacturer's recommendations to keep your defibrillator ready to use.

What warranty applies to recertified defibrillators?

The recertified defibrillators in our Encore Series are devices that have undergone a verification and refurbishment process.

Their warranty conditions may differ from those of new devices. View the relevant product page or contact our team to learn about the applicable terms.
