Sterile compression bandage
Sterile pressure bandage to control bleeding and apply pressure to a wound. Available in two sizes: 4 in (10 cm) and 6 in (15 cm).
The bandage holds a dressing in place and keeps constant pressure on the wound. It is useful when a simple dressing is not enough to slow the bleeding while waiting for emergency responders.
Choosing a size: the 4 in suits hands, forearms and small wounds. The 6 in suits legs, arms, the head or larger wounds.
How to use: apply the sterile pad directly on the wound, then wrap the bandage tightly enough to apply pressure without cutting off circulation. Secure the end. Check that fingers or toes stay warm and coloured. If blood soaks through, add a second bandage over the first without removing it. For severe bleeding, call 911.
